Dhiren J. Naidu, MD FRCPC, Dip. Sport Med.

President, NHLTPS

Dr. Naidu is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta.  He is the Chief Medical Officer of the Canadian Football League.  His area of research interest is in Concussion, and he is a co-author of the Sport Concussion Assessment Tool (SCAT6).  Clinically, he has an interest in concussion, spine and sport medicine injuries.  He is one of the Lead physicians for Varsity Health at the University of Alberta and the Medical Director and Head Team Physician of the Edmonton Oilers and the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League.  In the past, Dr. Naidu served as the head physician for Team North America at the World Cup of Hockey.  

Michael Terry, MD

Dr. Michael Terry is the Head Team Physician for the Chicago Blackhawks. He is the Snorf Family Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Department of Orthopedic surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He is also the Fellowship Director for Sports Medicine. Dr. Terry completed his medical school at the University of Chicago and then attended Cornell’s Hospital for Special Surgery for residency prior to completing his fellowship in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at the Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado. Dr. Terry is the Head Team Physician for Northwestern University’s Varsity sports programs and for the United States Men’s Volleyball National Team. Dr. Terry, in addition to sports coverage, has a busy clinical practice in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery. His research interests include clinical outcome studies and topics in biomechanics. Dr. Terry has published over fifty peer-reviewed articles, two books, and multiple chapters.

Josh Bloom, MD, MPH

Josh Bloom, MD, MPH is a partner physical and Medical Director at Carolina Family Practice & Sports Medicine and Medical Director of the Carolina Sports Concussion Clinic.  He is Team Physician and Medical Director for the Carolina Hurricanes (NHL), Co-Chief Medical Officer and Head Team Physician for USA Baseball, and Head Team Physician Apex Friendship High School.  Dr. Bloom is Chair of the USA Baseball Medical and Sports Performance Committee, serves on the NHL/NHLPA Concussion Subcommittee, North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) Sports Medicine Advisory Committee, North Carolina Brain Injury Advisory Council, and has clinical faculty positions in the Department of Family Medicine at UNC School of Medicine and the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Duke University. 

John E. (Jed) Kuhn, MD, MS

John E (Jed) Kuhn, MD, MS. Is the Kenneth D. Schermerhorn Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.  He is the Founder of the MOON Shoulder Group-a multicenter research group that uses large patient populations to study conditions that affect the shoulder.  He has authored over 140 peer reviewed manuscripts, 48 book chapters, and is the editor of three texts.  He is the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, the Past President of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons.  He has served as a team physician for the USA National Team Development Program, the University of Michigan Hockey Team, and is now a Team Physician for the Nashville Predators Hockey Club.

Gary Dorshimer, MD, FACP, CAQSM

Gary W. Dorshimer, MD, FACP, CAQSM is a Summa cum laude graduate of Muhlenberg College, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and finished his training in Internal Medicine as a  resident and Chief Medical Resident at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia.  He has been a team physician with the Flyers since 1984 and has served as Head Team Physician/Medical Director since 1999.  He also served as team physician for the Philadelphia Eagles for 20 yrs, and for the Philadelphia Phantoms of the AHL, Philadelphia Kixx of Major Indoor Soccer League, and several other pro and college teams in the Philadelphia area.  He has served as Secretary/Treasurer of the NHL Team Physicians Society since 1988.  He serves as Assistant Program Director for the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship Programs at the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.  He is in full time practice of Internal Medicine in Penn Personalized Care at Pennsylvania Hospital, and was named in 2024 as Executive Medical Director of Penn’s Signature Services, Executive Health, and Concierge Medicine.

B. Elizabeth Delasobera, MD

B. Elizabeth Delasobera, MD is the Chief Medical Officer for MedStar Ambulatory Services. She is board certified in Emergency Medicine and Primary Care Sports Medicine and practices Primary Care Sports Medicine at MedStar’s Lafayette Centre in Washington, DC. Dr. Delasobera has been a key participant in the development of standardized protocols and guidelines for the MedStar Health Sports Medicine Concussion Program to ensure uniformity across the system. Her clinical interests are also stress fractures, exertional leg pain, ultrasound guided injections, and other non-operative sports injuries and therapeutics. In addition, Dr Delasobera started the primary care sports medicine fellowship for Georgetown and she serves on Georgetown University’s medical school faculty.  Dr Delasobera completed her undergraduate degree at Yale University, again in the role of captain of the tennis team, and received her medical degree from Stanford University in 2008. Dr. Delasobera completed her residency in emergency medicine at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital’s combined program in 2011. She completed her Sports Medicine Fellowship in 2012 from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is the lead primary care team physician for the Washington Capitals (NHL) and has also worked with Marymount University, Catholic University and other pro, college, and club teams in the area. She has been named Top Doctors by Northern Virginia Magazine and Washingtonian many years in a row.

Dharmesh Vyas, MD, PhD

Dharmesh Vyas, MD, PhD, is the Medical DIrector and Head Team Physician of the Pittsburgh Penguins Hockey Club.  Dr. Vyas completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Chicago Medical Center, and a surgical sports medicine fellowships at UPMC, Klinikum Rechts Der Isar in Munich, Germany, and Centre Albert Trillat in Lyon, France.  Dr. Vyas is an associate professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.  He is board-certified orthopedic surgeon by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery with a subspecialty certification in sports medicine. He is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Association, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.  He is also a consulting orthopaedic surgeon for Duquesne University and Carnegie Mellon University. He specializes in the care of young and experienced athletes, and trains residents and fellows in sports medicine. Dr. Vyas has extensive experience with treatment of shoulder (rotator cuff, labrum, instability, and arthritis), knee (ACL, PCL, meniscus, patella instability, osteotomy), and hip injuries (impingement/FAI, labrum, instability).
